We started Spring Studio in 2001, and have grown from a boutique agency surviving the dotcom bust to a world-class User Experience Design firm serving some of the world’s largest brands and most innovative startups.

Over that time we’ve built a team of amazingly talented designers, one of the strongest Design Research teams in the Bay Area, a world-class UI Development team and an outstanding Project/Account Management team that keeps the machine running smoothly. But most importantly, we’ve built a culture and a methodology that integrates all those disciplines and talent in a way that brings out our best work. At Spring Studio, we’ve built what we believe is the most accomplished, end-to-end UX group in San Francisco, the epicenter of UX design.

We couldn’t be more proud of the incredible individuals we get to work with every day. Today, we are proud to announce the next chapter in our evolution. Spring Studio has been acquired by BBVA, one of the most progressive financial services firms in the world.

BBVA is on a mission to be the world’s #1 digital bank. They recognize that as the bank becomes more digital, exceptional design is not optional. It has to be at the heart of what they do and needs to be part of the organization’s DNA. When we met with Mark Jamison, BBVA’s Global Head of Customer Experience, and Marianna Wickman, their Global Head of Design, we had great chemistry from the start. They are passionate about BBVA’s commitment to digital, the critical role of design and building a world-class design team within BBVA. Take a look at their announcement and accompanying video to get their perspective.

As we move on to our next chapter, we will continue our focus on designing and launching the world’s most innovative and impactful banking products and services. Spring Studio will continue to operate as its own entity, focused primarily on BBVA projects in the US and South America.

It has been a wonderful and fulfilling ride to this point in our journey. Thank you to everyone – our team, clients, partners, and friends – who have been part of our story so far. We’re so excited to make the next chapter even more fulfilling.
